Siwa Mgoboza is a prominent contemporary South African interdisciplinary artist, curator, and educator known for vibrant, "carnivalesque" works that explore themes of identity, hybridity, and belonging. Mgoboza is celebrated for creating the concept of Africadia, a utopian "future land" where social constructs like race, gender, and nationality are redefined or obliterated. His multidisciplinary practice—spanning performance, installation, and sculpture—engages queer identity, postcolonial politics, and the construction of the self through material experimentation.
