Linda Butler is a celebrated fine-art photographer based in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, known for her deeply contemplative explorations of history and culture. She is mostly self-taught but was significantly influenced by a workshop with Ansel Adams, which informed her mastery of light and shadow. Her Italian series, published in the 1998 monograph Italy: In the Shadow of Time by Rizzoli, represents a quiet meditation on the country’s ancient past.
