SYNOPSIS FROM THE FILMMAKER:
This film is a black love story narrated through the language of the heart, poetry. One may watch this film resonating with the different variations of love like self love, romantic love, community love, and the love of something one is simply passionate about. Our main characters Mason and Isabella both have a love for poetry, they also have a desire to outgrow their past and everything it tries to hold them
back from.
The intention behind this film was to illustrate the black experience in a positive light, eliminating the negative stigmas and stereotypes often seen in black cinema. This film is also a representation for spoken word poetry as an artform, a craft that is often underrepresented in cinema. Shatara believes this film will be a step forward in making poetry cinematic and developing a better appreciation for black love stories.
