Teen Engagement Ambassadors at moCa (TEAM) Description 

Teen Engagement Ambassadors at moCa (TEAM) provides an opportunity for Cleveland-area teens to learn about the museum field and create meaningful art experiences for their peers. The TEAM experience will take place over the course of one academic year, beginning in October 2022 and concluding in June 2023. Selected participants will meet biweekly to foster community, strengthen art interpretation skills, gain an increased understanding of the museum field, develop their own artistic practice, and deepen connections to the Cleveland art community. Woven into every meeting and activity will be opportunities for participants to create, share ideas, and build on our understanding of contemporary art.  

Job objective

The TEAM Internship provides a teen interested in arts education an inside look into facilitating an arts-centric teen program. The TEAM Intern is someone who will guide teens participating in Teen Engagement Ambassadors at moCa (TEAM). The Intern will work and learn in partnership with the Community Engagement and Education Coordinator, build community, and motivate follow-through. The Intern is enthusiastic about museums, contemporary issues, artists, culture, and community. In addition to co-facilitating cohort meetings, the Intern helps shape the TEAM curriculum by identifying appropriate activities and sharing resources that cultivate teens’ artistic practice. The Intern is an active listener who models patience and generosity, creating a meaningful learning experience for all teen participants. This position is best suited to a dedicated student interested in a career in arts, culture, community-building, public programming, and/or education. 

Duties & responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Community Engagement and Education Coordinator/TEAM Coordinator to design and facilitate biweekly TEAM meetings. 

  • Develop and maintain a supportive learning environment for all participants. 

  • Support evaluation of the TEAM experience and TEAM programming. 

  • Model excellence in engagement strategies and community-building. 

  • Communicate clearly with museum staff and Teen Engagement Ambassadors. 

  • Regularly communicate via email with teens, parents, and program partners. 

 

Required

  • Experience in creatively addressing social issues and concerns. 

  • Responsible, sensitive, and mature approach to mentoring and inspiring teens of varying life and cultural experiences. 

  • Demonstrated collaborative and organized methods of planning and communication. 

  • Demonstrated project follow-through and ability to meet deadlines. 

  • Enthusiasm for contemporary art and the curiosity it inspires. 

  • Interest in working in the museum field or creative sector. 

  • A personal artistic practice. 

  • Proficiency with and reliable access to Internet, Google Drive, mobile phone, and social media platforms. ​

Work Environment

  • Must be comfortable with working in an open office space. 

  • Must have access to Computer/Laptop as work may be hybrid.
