Artists on Art: Julia Christensen on Aleksandra Domanović

Julia Christensen is a multidisciplinary artist and writer whose work explores systems of technology, time, change, and memory. Currently, she is collaborating with scientists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab to develop an artwork for an interstellar spacecraft that will travel to Proxima b, 4.2 light years away from Earth. She is Associate Professor of Integrated Media in the Studio Art Department at Oberlin College and also is part of moCa’s New Agency, a special cohort of local creative innovators. She has been awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship (Fine Arts, 2018) and a Creative Capital Grant (2013, Emerging Fields). Her work has been presented widely at venues such as Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Los Angeles, CA), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis, MN), Ronald Feldman Fine Arts Gallery (NYC, NY), Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (Cleveland, OH), and the Carnegie Museum of Art (Pittsburgh, PA).
