Tim Callaghan draws inspiration from the mundane, elevating ordinary scenes into captivating images. His process involves observing everyday life in and around Cleveland, enriching these scenes with his memory and imagination. Using gouache as his preferred medium, Callaghan employs bold strokes, deliberate pauses, and a vibrant color palette to generate a curious tension between figurative and abstract elements. Works like Deer Park exude a quiet energy, blurring the line between the familiar and the surreal. Through his work, Callaghan transforms specific moments into universal symbols, inviting viewers to ponder the essence of time and place.
