Manabu Ikeda
Manabu Ikeda (born 1973 in Saga, Japan) earned his BFA (1998) and MFA (2000) in design from Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2011, he spent a year in Vancouver as an Emerging Artist Overseas Study Grant Recipient from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs. In 2013, he was awarded a residency at the Chazen Museum of Art to create a new work over three years; he has been based in Madison, Wisconsin since this time. Ikeda has received high acclaim internationally for his unique imagery, which encompasses both the micro and the macro simultaneously, as well as for his masterful technique with ultra-fine pen tips.
