The Design Coordinator will execute moCa’s visual content creation and design efforts that enhance the museum’s brand and marketing initiatives. This role will focus on developing design solutions (digital, print, and environmental platforms) that align with and reinforce the museum’s mission and brand identity.

  • Executes the design process for content creation, coordinating with stakeholders while working within and growing brand guidelines, from concept development through design completion .

  • Creates high-quality design materials for various media including print, digital, social media, and motion graphics.

  • Refines efficient design workflows and systems to manage project intake, set expectations, scope work, track progress, provide regular updates, and evaluate outcomes.

  • Understands basic business operations principles and applies foundational project management methods.

  • Helps to ensure expense control and  economies in all design projects.

  • Four-year degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing Design, or Digital Design, or a related field preferred; candidates without four-year degrees must demonstrate equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of professional design experience (preferably working with multiple clients and/or in the non-profit space), including accurately assessing time required to meet production deadlines.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing cross-platform design work (print, digital, motion graphics).


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Possesses strong design and editing skills – executes on strategic content to achieve organizational objectives, coordinates content creation projects incorporating best practices and emerging trends to optimize engagement and impact.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; Milanote (preferred)  and other planning or design software preferred.

  • Uses computer systems and programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and/or role-specific technology) with competency and efficiency.

  • Reliably fulfills obligations, consistently meets or exceeds deadlines, and proactively contributes to refining and improving established policies and procedures.

  • Builds relationships and collaborates effectively, provides basic coaching and support to direct reports, and demonstrates a willingness to learn and adapt to new management responsibilities.

  • Learns and executes tasks autonomously, develops and optimizes processes for efficiency,      consistently maintains focus to complete tasks independently, and can make well-informed decisions with limited oversight.

  • Has an awareness of budgets and reading basic reports.

  • Commits to modeling best practices for collaborating with diverse populations, demonstrating a proficient understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) principles.

  • Communicates (both verbally and in written English) with an advanced level of awareness, confidence, and fluency to moderate panels, present compelling arguments, persuade diverse audiences, and drive action that furthers the museum's strategic objectives.

  • Represents moCa in a positive light in interactions and communications.

  • Appreciates and possesses an intermediate understanding of both contemporary art and culture.

  • Navigates and adapts to changing priorities/work environments.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sitting (continuously), standing (occasionally), and moving among various areas of the facility (occasionally).

  • Listening and exchanging information in-person, by phone, and computer (frequently).

  • Lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds (occasionally).

  • Using hands for simple & power grasping, pushing & pulling, and fine manipulation (continuously).

  • Operating a computer and keyboarding (continuously).

  • Reaching above shoulder level, at waist level, and below waist level (occasionally).

  • Bending (waist level), twisting (waist level), squatting, kneeling, and balancing (occasionally).

  • Climbing stairs (frequently) and/or ladders (occasionally).


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Eligible for a hybrid work schedule under moCa’s RWA policy.

  • Occasionally required to travel locally for work.

  • Occasionally required to work evenings and/or weekends.

  • Open-concept office with transparent walls, natural, and artificial light, and concrete floors.
