MOCA Cleveland

MOCA Cleveland’s talks and lectures broaden the context of our exhibitions and provide meaningful interpretations on the art and ideas of our time. From lively opening night artist interviews to in-depth art historical lectures to spirited panel discussions, MOCA’s talks and lectures connect audiences to contemporary art, current events, critical issues, and visionary ideas. Most talks and lectures at MOCA are free and open to the public. In addition to regular series like Points of View, Contemporary Conversations, Nesnadny + Schwartz Visiting Curator Talk, and Distinguished Artist Lectures, MOCA hosts special discussions each season based on the particular themes of the exhibitions on view.

Your participation is a vital component of these programs, so make sure to put the following talks and lectures on your calendar:

Nesnadny + Schwartz Visiting Curator:
Ian Berry
On the Artist's "Long Career"
Wednesday, June 23, 2010
6:30pm

From vogue trendsetter to ignored renegade to celebrated master, artists have lives marked by peaks and troughs that reveal much about the art market and museum practice. Ian Berry, Associate Director and The Susan Rabinowitz Malloy ’45 Curator of The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College, will give a special talk at MOCA examining the “long career” of the artist from a curatorial perspective. Using Marilyn Minter as an introduction, Berry will reflect on past projects to advocate for curatorial engagement with artists who are far beyond their student shows.
