Hold on Her: A CIA Student Performancy by Kate Gilmore at MOCA Cleveland

On April 21, 2013, artist Kate Gilmore premiered a new, directed performance art piece called Hold on Her. The work featured five Cleveland Institute of Art students - Annmarie Suglio, Rachel Yurkovich, Cassandra Opaskar, Ashley Fiasco, and Jamie Ausperk - who performed for six hours, from 11am when the Museum opened to 5pm when it closed. Wearing identical black dresses and shoes, each subject posed on a white, 4 x 4 x 4 foot pedestal while always touching a large ceramic vessel. This video interweaves performance footage with commentary by artist Kate Gilmore, MOCA Chief Curator David Norr, CIA Assistant Professor Sarah Kabot, and MOCA Director of Programs and Associate Curator Megan Lykins Reich.
