Adult Education and Interpretation
Interpretation Interns are integral members of the Curatorial and Education Department, working with the Director of Education/Associate Curator to help develop and execute exhibition-related interpretive materials, talks and lectures, artist programs, special events, and content for technology-based initiatives like cell-phone delivered podcasts and web-based outreach. The Interpretation Interns’ projects have included researching upcoming exhibitions, corresponding with artists and curators for upcoming events, brainstorming future programs, creating evaluation strategies for exhibitions and events, assisting with outreach, and leading interactive tours.
Interpretation Interns must possess superior writing, communication, organizational, social, and computer skills. Ideal candidates are self-starters who are comfortable working independently and speaking in public.
Preferred Majors: Art History, Museum Studies, Communications, Art Education
A commitment of 8-16 hours per week is required.

Guest Services
Guest Services interns help to ensure a fabulous visitor experience. There is no such thing as a typical day for this versatile intern, whose duties will include assisting with the management and implementation of programs, special events and tours; greeting and interacting with multicultural museum visitors; analyzing attendance trends; and assisting in the museum gift shop as needed. Candidates must be outgoing with exceptional interpersonal communication skills and a strong interest in Contemporary Art. This internship is an excellent introduction for enthusiastic individuals interested in a career in event management, guest services or hospitality.
Preferred Majors: Communication, Hospitality, Event Management
Must be able to work 8 hours per week during normal business hours and two events per season. Due to the nature of this internship candidates must be available to work special events, most of which occur during evenings and weekends.
Marketing/Communications

Tech-Based Education
Tech-based Education Interns are integral members of the Education Department, working with the New Media Education Manager to help develop and execute technology-based interpretive materials and education programs including podcasts, cell-phone delivered audio guides, exhibition promotional videos, vodcasts and web-based outreach. The Tech-based Education Interns’ projects have included planning exhibition documentaries, video and audio-recording talks and programs, editing and post-production in audio and video environments, using social networking sites to promote programs and exhibitions, and developing web-based feedback sites for audiences.
Tech-based Interns must possess a proficient knowledge of audio and video equipment and software, including Final Cut and Cubase (or other comparable audio editing program). Interns should also possess excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred candidates are self-starters who are comfortable working independently and who have a good working knowledge of current developments in communication and New Media. The ideal candidate would also have fluency with Adobe Flash or with digital animation, but this is not a requirement for this position.
Preferred Majors: Any computer-based majors, Communications, Design
A commitment of 8-16 hours per week is required.

Youth and Family Education
Youth and Family Interns are integral members of the Education Department, working with the Curator of Education to plan and execute K-12, family and docent programs at MOCA Cleveland. The Youth and Family Interns’ projects have included creating teacher resource packets, developing educational materials such as lesson plans, leading interactive tours, and performing research assignments.
Youth and Family Interns must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and computer skills. Ideal candidates are creative and equally comfortable working with children and engaging their caregivers in conversation. An outgoing personality is essential and experience working with children is preferred.
Preferred Majors: Art Education, K-12 Education, Communication
A commitment of 8-16 hours per week is required.
