Docents introduce the art and ideas of our time to a wide array of visitors.
MOCA docents are active, valuable members of the museum’s education department
who learn directly from the curators and exhibiting artists, lead interactive
tours of compelling exhibitions, and share their enthusiasm for contemporary art.
What our docents love most about their role at MOCA:
"I love meeting the public, teaching, and constantly
learning." -Anne
"Being a part of the art community." -Johnine
"For me, the best part is learning about the art and
artists and because so many people feel they don’t understand contemporary art, they often don’t
give it a chance. I want to help provide visitors with tools they can take away so when they look
at contemporary art elsewhere, they’ll spend more time looking and asking questions." -Mary Ann
Do you love art too, enjoy talking to people, and have a flexible daytime schedule?
Docent volunteers are in great demand as our School-To-Museum Program continually grows.
No previous experience is necessary. Training is provided, but active commitment is needed
to join this highly passionate and specialized group of volunteers!
We are currently accepting new docents for the upcoming seasons. Training for new exhibitions
take place the month before the season opens. If you are interested in becoming a docent volunteer,
contact our Curator of Education at 216.421.8671 ext. 41 or fill-out our
online application.
